When Platinum People Group stepped into 2018, we were only 7 months old. Having experienced some positive results from our first few months of business, we were quietly confident that the year would yield some exciting change. And we weren’t wrong!
This highlight reel is our way of saying thank you to our clients, business partners, friends, families and team. We couldn’t have done it without you all.

Reaching our 1st birthday
In June this year, PPG officially turned one! After a massive year of setting up the business and delivering excellent results for clients, we were happy to take the chance to take a night off to celebrate with our team, friends, family, mentors and business partners. We learned so much in our first year of existence, and loved celebrating this milestone.
Winning Recruiter of the Year
We’re already making a mark on our industry at just over a year old! We were beyond chuffed to be nominated and to actually WIN Recruiter of the Year at the Young Leaders in Finance Awards in June this year. We pride ourselves in genuinely helping young people succeed in the finance industry, and it was such a huge honour to be recognised for our work in this space.
Hiring our first recruits
Having so much work that you need to hire new people is a pretty good problem to have within a year of opening for business. In July this year we employed our first PPG employees. You could say office banter has increased.
Moving into a bigger office space
You can’t grow your team without upsizing your office space. We were thrilled to upgrade our private office space and move into a larger office in August. A huge thank you to everyone who helped us move and make the transition so easy.
Raising over $2,000 for Make-A-Wish Australia
Our team is passionate about making the world a better place, and we love the work that Make-A-Wish does to bring joy to children battling life threatening illness. To show our support, we pledged to raise $2,000 to fund their work through the Medibank Melbourne Marathon. Our team ran in the 5km event and managed to reach our fundraising target! Thank you to all our friends, family and clients who generously donated money towards this amazing cause.
Presenting to Mortgage Choice franchisees in Sydney
In October, our Managing Director Roland flew to Sydney to run a session with Mortgage Choice on ‘How to find and acquire great talent to grow your business’. It was a great opportunity to share his firsthand experiences and specialised knowledge with franchisees, to help them rethink and hone their recruitment strategies. We had some great feedback, and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet some impressive franchise business owners.

Working with amazing clients and candidates
2018 saw us meet hundreds of impressive individuals working in the mortgage broking space, and we helped place many of them into fulfilling new roles. We want to thank those that reached out to us or responded to our messages and helped us find a great new fit for you.
We also began working with some new clients around Australia, while continuing to partner with our existing client base. Our client network is hugely supportive of Platinum People Group, and we’re excited to take your businesses to new heights in 2019! Thank you for your ongoing encouragement and business.
Some specific highlights of this year include:
- Seeing a candidate we placed into a Loan Processor role in late 2017 progress into an exciting Mortgage Broker role
- Helping an accounting firm launch their mortgage broking arm by placing their very first mortgage broker, who’ll help them perfect their business model
- Helping several candidates move into leadership roles (in some cases, requiring them to move interstate to incredibly attractive warmer climates!)
- Placing a State Manager earlier in the year, and watching them turn the team and business around for the better already.
These are just a few basic examples, but they truly bring a smile to our faces. It makes us so happy to see our clients and candidates grow on their journey.
A happy engagement
They say behind every great man is a great woman… and this is no exception for our Managing Director Roland. In August this year, he finally popped the question to his own “great woman”, the gorgeous Madison. Madi has been a massive support throughout the life of PPG. She’s not only been a huge personal support to Roland, but has helped out with bookkeeping and other aspects or everyday operations. The business wouldn’t be where it is without her!
